Comparative Adhesive Bonding of Wood Chemically Modified with Either Acetic Anhydride or Butylene Oxide

چکیده
Determining adhesive bond performance for chemically modified wood is important not only its commercial utility but also understanding durability. Bulking modifications occupy space inside the cell wall, limiting available water. We used two bulking on yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera L.): acetylation (Ac), which bulks and converts a hydroxyl group to an ester, while butylene oxide (BO) preserves group. Both result in lower water uptake; however, loss of with Ac reduces wood’s ability form hydrogen other polar bonds adhesives. On hand, BO reaction replaces another one along hydrocarbon chain; thus, this product may be harder than unmodified wood. investigated how these chemical affect four adhesives: resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF), melamine-formaldehyde (MF), emulsion polymer isocyanate (EPI), epoxy. The ASTM D 905 shear strength both dry wet samples showed that results were quite similar wood, MF EPI performed poorly Ac-modified contrast RF

متن کاملdetection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts
in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...
surface roughness of linear chain carboxylic acid anhydride modified wood
this study was carried out to investigate the effect of esterification on the surface roughness of eastern cottonwood. eastern cottonwood was modified without using any catalyst and solvent at different temperatures and times with two linear chain carboxylic acid anhydrides (acetic anhydride or propionic anhydride). different weight percentage gains (wpgs) were obtained at different conditions....

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of aluminosilicate clay nanotubes (Halloysite, HNT) incorporated into the adhesive resin of a commercially available three-step etch and rinse bonding system (Adper Scotchbond Multi-Purpose/SBMP) on dentin bond strength, as well as the effect on several key physicochemical properties of the modified adhesive. METHODS Experimental a...
